NOTE FROM AL MORGAN
E-Mail Us Allagash Wilderness Camps
Dear Fellow Sportsman,
My name is Al Morgan, owner of Allagash Wilderness Camps in St. Francis, Maine. It has been brought to my attention that you may be looking for a good place to bear hunt. Black bear hunting season in Maine starts 8/27/07 and ends 9/22/07.
We hunt the month of September for bear over baited tree stands which are pre-baited one month in advance of the hunt. We work hard for our hunters and our references do the talking for us! We do not spend big money on color brochures and plush lodging. We put our money into the hunt.
Our guest lodging consists of two small houses and two log cabins which all have heat, water, flush toilets, beds, showers and etc. These acommodations are on a good black top road on Route 161 in the small town of St. Francis, Maine. We are situated on the bank of the beautiful St. John River, 18 miles from Fort Kent, Maine.
Your stay with us starts on your arrival Sunday afternoon of the week you choose, the hunting starts Monday morning and ends Friday night of the same week. Breakfast is served Saturday morning.
I will explain our daily routine to you. My wife has breakfast for four o'clock in the morning. When everyone is finished eating, myself and my assistants will take the hunters out to their stands. The stands are 10 to 20 feet high and the shooting ranges from 10 to 50 yards. They are anywhere from 5 to 50 miles from the camp. Around 10 o'clock the hunters are all picked up and brought back to camp for the big meal. Then around 2 o'clock everyone is taken back out to their stands until dark.
Again everyone is brought in and my wife has sandwiches waiting in the cabins for the hunters. Articles needed are: camouflage clothing, rubber boots, sleeping bag, towels, and face cloths.
Your bear is dressed, skinned, quartered and frozen at no extra cost.
You may also fish for brook trout after you get your bear. I will show you where the lakes are and where to fish. I have boats you can use. But you must use your own vehicle and take yourself fishing. As my main concern is to get the clients all a bear if possible. There is no extra cost for the fishing or if you should be lucky enough to bag a coyote while bear hunting.
DEER SEASON: (rifle - mo./Nov., bow - mo./Oct., muzzleloader - 11/26 to 12/1)
We have three different plans for the deer hunt which you will see on the deer page. If you are interested in getting a trophy buck, our camp is the place to try. You will not see a lot of deer but when you do see one, it will be a big deer. For Monster Bucks in the 250lb class, TRY US!
A purchase of a non-resident hunting license is required for all hunts. The cost is $102.00 for the big game license and an additional $68.00 for a bear permit. You can purchase a license at our camps on arrival, if you wish. The only other cost would be any North Maine Woods gates that you may have to go through while hunting or fishing. This costs $8.00/day, per person.
If I can be of service to you in your bear or deer hunt, please call me as soon as possible, as available openings will not last long. You can reach me at 603-523-8321 until May 31st, then after that at 207-398-3156.
We are now also offering a combination turkey hunt and trout fishing package in New Hampshire during the month of May for $750.00 which is a three and one half day hunt. If shooting a boss gobbler and doing some outstanding trout fishing is something that interests you and you would like to come up for a long weekend or have a few days off during the week this is a spectacular time.
WE ALSO OFFER BOW HUNTING FOR DEER AND ICE FISHING TRIPS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE.
